Has anyone heard if GFI will be in Dallas this year? That was one of my favorite places to hang,,,,Mike Sigler on steel. I know it certainly won't be the same without Gene,,,,such a loss!!!

Bob has not said anything about not going, and he mentioned about trying to have the new short scale guitar ready for Dallas. Gene didn't go to Dallas last year and missed St. Louis a couple years ago, but Bob always goes and sets up the GFI room. People have ask me about the operation of GFI since Gene's passing, and I tell them I have worked at GFI for about 6 years and Bob has always been the general manager conducting day to day business taking care of dealers and vendors. Gene told me he did not like paper work dealing with business matters and bob was the better person for that. Gene loved research & development and building guitars and parts. He was happiest at the mill or lathe and was always so excited to show me a new jig he made to make our building easier. In short, GFI operations will continue as before as Gene planned it to be.

Hey Jack,,,thanks a million,,,,that clears that up. Looking forward to seeing everyone and hearing Mike stretch out. What's this about a new short scale guitar?

Jack, that is great news! If and when I get to upgrade from my GFI SM-10, it WILL be another GFI.

It hasn't been announced yet, but Gene and Mike Sigler designed a S-10 keyless with a 22.5 inch scale that will fit in an overhead of a plane. The frames and parts are made, but none have been put together yet. Mike's guitar will be 5X5, and we are hoping to have it for him in Dallas. Bob will name the new model, and I think he is still kicking that around. Bob also hasn't decided if there will be a case or gig bag.
