Hello everyone. I am a true newbie as I have just started lessons on my mom's old Gibson EH 150 lap steel guitar. She has been gone now for 30 years and I decided it's time to honor her memory. I still remember the Sunday mornings when she would pull out her guitar and play for us kids.
I have a good teacher who is a classic and Dobro player. He is a stickler for details and I feel I can be a competent player if I practice and follow his instruction. I am playing in open G which I understand is a classic Dobro tuning. I won't be a frequent poster but I do enjoy reading the posts of others. _________________ From the City of Good Neighbors

Hello Douglas, you are several steps ahead of some others, having a good Instrument, a good Teacher and plenty back-up here on the Forum, don't be afraid to ask.
James. |

Welcome Doug. I have a 150 that belonged to my father. Very good guitars. Best of luck and Happy New Year. Put some effort and time ino it and you'll be amazed how far you will have come by this time next year. _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6. Welcome Douglas,
I am fairly new also, just about a year now, I find steel guitar has enriched my life a great deal, I'm sure it will you too!
I wish you all the best.
