Profex II - Yet another question

I really looked in the manual, but can't figure this out.
There are theoretically 3 banks of sounds - A, B & U (user)
I can cycle thru A & B but can't seem to get to the (U)ser Bank where I have, in theory, stored my changes.
Anyone care to straighten me out here?

The basic factory set up is 2 banks, A and B. The banks have 128 presets, both banks start with the same factory presets. One will always stay the same, the other can have the presets modified and stored, this becomes the user bank. If you do a factory re-set, you restore both banks to the original condition, with identical factory presets. If you want a C bank you need to use a ram card, which can can also hold 128 presets that can be modified and stored on it. So, without the card installed, you have 2 banks, one that can't be changed, and one that can be modified. With a ram card installed, you will have those 2 banks plus another set that can be modified and stored on the card.

So, I have a total of 256 presets as follows (?)
128 under Bank A
128 under Bank B which IS the (U)ser bank ?

So, if I make a change to - say program A21 and save it to U21
then B21 will be my changed program?

Also, if you know, I have names like MightyGood, Jeff CHO, Jeff 1, LARY SASR, Lloyd GRN,
etc in both my A & B banks. Does this mean someone has loaded in the Newman settings or do they come in there by default?

Also, if I do a factory reset do I lose all of those?

The presets you mentioned are some of the Newman programs. They are not the factory default settings, if you do a re-set, you will lose them all. It's been while since I had a Profex, but it seems to me that only the B bank allowed settings to be saved to it. As far as the U presets, anytime you modify or save a setting to another location, say you save setting 50 to location 49, it will be marked as a User setting. The ram card is most useful as a means to backup to your favorite settings. Store them to the card, then, if you need to, re-load them to the Profex. For example, you would need to restore them if you do a factory re-set.

I have a document called "Profex II Newman Settings" and all
128 settings are broken down by parameter. Here is a copy/paste of one of them from the document"

3B= Ty=Guitar, Lo=+50, MFrq=1.0KHz, Mid=-32, Hi=+32
Output Level (â†’) = 100

DL= Ty=Stereo, Ld=360ms, Lf=27%, Rd=360ms, Rf=27%, Ts=1K, Mx=+16
Output Level (â†’) = 100

If a battery dies, or if I reset the unit, can I put these back in from the document?

Its not that gadgets are confusing...its just they are just another distraction. One great guitar plugged into one great pedal feeding one great amp powering one great speaker is already a mission impossible of tone. Anything in between makes it that much more difficult to acheive. Just an opinion. Toys are nice too.. .multiple guitars and amps...even better.

Since you have all the parameters in a document, you should be able to enter them in and save that as a preset. You might want go start looking for one of the memory cards. I believe they are no longer made, so finding one can be difficult task.

The A bank is the user bank and the B bank is the factory. You cannot change the factory bank however there is an interesting way to use it. Just for jollies lets say you have your favorite programs in user bank locations A10, A38, and A107. What you can do is go to the B bank say B125, B126, and B127 and point them to the A bank locations. You go to the B125 and select the right arrow and you will see the cursor move over to the User location. You then hit the up or down arrow to change the program to the A10. Then use the left arrow to move the cursor back to the B bank location. Now when you select B125 it points to A10 and uses that program. Do the same for the other programs and you have all of your favorites right there in one spot. You could even use this to coincide with you song list if you wanted and have it right there instead of searching all over for them.
As far as losing all of your programs, if you ever have to do the reset just get in touch with guys like me who have the cache card and all it will costyou is postage to ship the card back and forth from my place to yours to get you backup and running w/o spending several days punching it in!!!
