There really aren't enough strings on a 6 string to get the full E13 tuning but ... Don Helms hardly ever played his two lowest strings on those Hank Williams records. Using this high E6th tuning, you can play all of his parts: G#
E
C#
B
G#
E This is a very high tuning for a lap steel. It's the same intervals as the standard C6th, but raised by four half-steps. All of the songs in Don Helms' tab book of Hank Williams songs can be played with this tuning.
