Definitely not Jerry Brightman. A few years back, my family and I were traveling to the west coast in my old motor home, and decided to stop in Bakersfield, and try to catch the Buck Owens show at the Crystal Palace. As luck would have it, the night before we arrived there, we stopped at a campground to spend the night. The next morning, we discovered we were camped right next to some folks from Bakersfield. They gave us directions, and told us when the show started---everything! Got there 15 minutes before show time! The same band that was in the video, was playing for Buck, that night. later on that year, I was talking to Jerry at a steel jam, and I said,"I saw your old boss when I was in Bakersfield." , and he said "who was playing steel?", and I said,"I don't know, but he was playing steel, and lead on a little black Steinberger guitar." Then he said," Did you get to talk to Buck?" I never got to talk to him, because Buck was a very private person, and I never remember him sticking around after a show to talk, or sign autographs, or anything, but, at least I know, it wasn't Jerry that was playing the steel in the video. -Jake- |
