Merry Christmas to all my friends on the Steel Guitar Forum.
For the past decade or so, I’ve recorded a Christmas or holiday themed tune to share with my buds on the Forum.

Things were busier than usual and I had almost decided not to continue my tradition, but I've had several messages shaming me into doing another round this year, so here goes . . .

This year I did 'Blue Christmas', for all you Elvis fans out there. Smile

All these songs -- and others -- are available for free on my website -- make your own Christmas CD from them with my good wishes! Just click HERE to visit LarryBell.org – Christmas songs are in the lower right corner of the page or just click on links below

I hope you enjoy it -- click on the song titles below -- all are 3 - 5 Mb mp3 files --

This Year's Tune
Blue Christmas - 2014
Songs from previous years:

Winter Wonderland - 2002
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - 2003
O Christmas Tree - 2004
No Place Like Home for the Holidays - 2005

Santa Claus is Coming to Town - 2010
I Saw Mama Kissing Santa Claus - 2011
I'll Be Home for Christmas - 2012

Last Year's Tune

Wishing you all the best of holiday seasons and a prosperous new year.

Larry Bell

Merry Christmas Larry! To you and your family. I still remember you playing in Bradenton and when we visited your home. I miss seeing everyone now that Roy is gone but I get on the forum off and on. Have you been playing locally lately and if so where?

My son took me to the Bradenton jam in Nov. and it was wonderful to see everyone again. I sure do miss doing that with Roy.

This is a hard time of year for me but I know he is with me.

I had to move from my daughters and I am now living alone in Sun City Center.

Let me hear from you.

New Year Blessings to you and yours too. I pray this year will be better.

Hugs,
Laurie

By the way, you always do a wonderful job playing. Thanks for the music! I've been playing Roy's Christmas CD every day.

Very nice, Larry, great playing as every year!
If you don't mind, which guitar was that? And you on 6 string as well?
Best wishes for the holiday season and next year.

Thanks, all, for the kind words
It's my pleasure and your good wishes and friendship make my Christmas season.

I'd like to thank each of you who took a moment to say something. I love hearing something personal from each of you.

Donny -- we've been hanging out here for a while, eh? It's always great to hear from you

Laurie -- thank you, sweetie. I will forever treasure the time I was so fortunate to spend with Roy. He was a very special man; you and he will both always have a special spot in my heart. Have great holidays.

MVA -- it was my new mid-70s Emmons S/D-12 -- S/PDIF out of a Boss GT-6 into soundcard. Not me on 6 string -- amazing what BiAB can come up with these days. Happy holidays to one of my earliest steel guitar buds -- enjoy that new studio and new place with those cute alpacas. Smile

Charlie the Moth (or is it the Tuna these days?) -- hope all is well in Tejas and you are having the best holidays ever.

Paul & Luke -- thanks for taking the time to respond -- so glad you enjoyed the tunes.

Bill -- great to hear from another U12 guy. I've really never played anything else -- get lost on 10 strings. I remember when I first recorded Winter Wonderland my old buddy Al Marcus told me he really loved the tone. It was a single body Fessenden with a BL-710 in it and I always thought it was a little brittle, but great string separation and cut through a mix really well. Thanks for asking. I miss Al -- like Roy Ayres and Don Helms -- they had steel guitar memories of Joaquin and Alvino Rey and Jerry Byrd that many of us can only re-live through their stories.

Edward -- thank you. Glad you enjoy the music. It's why I do it. Have a great 'un!

Bobby D -- Glad you liked this one too!! Merry Christmas my friend.

Rick -- any accolades from a player of your caliber is humbly appreciated. Best wishes for a great holiday season and New Year.

Bo -- beats me, dude. Smile Glad you liked it -- thanks for taking the time to write!!

Very Happy

A little judicious mixing as you do makes it work pretty seamlessly.

I was in cold places a couple of years (Pennsylvania),
but my mind's still in Puerto Rico. Hope your fingers are staying warm everywhere.
Cool

South Florida works just fine for me Smile

Did play outside on NYE a few years ago and it was in the low 40s -- but that's not typical.

You keep warm too -- and have great holidays!

It sometimes takes a little longer, two or three years?, for us out here on the LEFT COAST to get in the know about the goins' on within our favorite circle of musician friends.

The songs you kindly shared with us were truly fabulous in every aspect. It's fair to say that you have been freshly discovered in Oregon........

THANKS for sharing......... Great performances.

Bill,
Hope you're keeping those home fires a-burnin' up there in Michigan. Bet your Christmas will be white (if not white, at least COOOOOLD)

And Gord,
It's even COLDER up there. Thanks for your kind words and tip an egg nog for me!

Ray,
I'm so glad you appreciate the Christmas tunes. I know you've been around the block and are an avid Jerry Byrd fan. I met Jerry in 1964 when I was on Ralph Emery and Jerry Byrd and Billy Byrd were the cornerstones of the band and Jerry was leader. Many moons ago -- I was 14 in a combo that won a contest. I will never forget the confidence and competence of all the band members. They made great role models. Smile

HoHoHo
