Tommy,

How do I get mine to shine like that?

Bob,
I take them all apart and polish all the metal parts on a buffing wheel. I use boiled linseed oil on the formica.

Tommy,

I have two questions.

1. What is that croosrod between the 1st RKL and the cabinet support brace for?

2. On The A pedal you have a 3rd bellcrank. Is this similar to what I had that allows you to lower the 6th string a whole tone, BUT when A is engaged it only lowers a half a tone which is tunable?

Thanks,

carl

A picture is worth 1000 words!

Congratulations Tom, I've been trying to describe your spectacular work for years. When I said "mirror finish" I wasn't kidding! I'm glad you posted these pictures.

Carl, The extra bell crank on the first pedal is for a tunable split like you have.
The other rod you questioned is for a tunable half on strings 7&8.

Thank you Tommy; and that under carriage IS gorgeous. The best I have EVER seen! You are to be commended.

I would like to be a millionaire and offer you and Noel Anstead (Anapeg) to build me a guitar with NO expenses spared, and then study them for the rest of my life tryin to determine which was the best.

May Jesus continue to nurture your rare talent,

carl

What's this about boiled linseed oil?
Is that the way it comes in the can?

You know? This is something I always wanted to do on my 1974 D10 red laquer and finally I'm on it. I'm stripping the old laquer while preserving the original stain and details.
"By the way you have a wonderful guitar".
I hope you enjoy it in good health for a very long time.
A fellow steel player,
Carlos
