I've searched the past threads on this topic, but still need a bit of advice concerning lubrication. I have just bought a new GFI S-10 and with less than 10 hours of playing on it, the B pedal has developed a very loud squeak/sqwaak at the changer. A & C pedals are dead quiet. I know it's probably a lubrication thing, but the GFI owners manual says that the guitar shouldn't need lubrication as it has been "sufficiently lubricated at the factory to last the lifetime of the guitar". HAs anyone else had something similar with GFI steels? Should I attempt to lubricate it myself, or best to just contact GFI?

| I use 3 in 1 oil in the blue can, not the red. The blue is a little heavier weight and I think better. I think a steel is like a sewing machine and needs to be oiled occasionally, depending on how much you play of course. I can't imagine all those metal to metal parts moving against each other don't need some oil. I don't buy into the statement that the guitar has been lubricated to last a lifetime. |

I would suggest using "Al Cass" brand trumpet valve oil. It's very light, and has a "capilary" action. Use it sparingly, and a bottle, about three dollars, should last you for a few years.
