I am looking to adjust my c pedal a little higher. I understand How its done, but I just cant figure out a good, safe way to do it without bending the rod. I need to loosen up the lock nut on the rod and screw the ball joint up higher correct? The nut is really tight so I need to hold the rod somehow while loosening it. Any input.
BTW. I DO not have a vice, so that's not an option.
THanks

I would try a rag wrapped around the rod with a pair of vise grip pliers. That should do it.

I put the hook end in a vise, or pair of vise-grips.
I used to just leave them on the guitar, til one badly seized one bent the pull tab on the guitar.

I had this issue once. I could not get the lock washer off because the thread was in such bad shape. I ended up buying a new rod from Micheal Yahl. It wasn't terribly expensive. I hack sawed the old rod at the top of the thread to get my lock washer back.

Just leave it on the guitar all hooked up and make sure you are going the right direction and give it a quick jerk with the wrench to loosen it. It should not be seized on your guitar.

If you have a small nut thst jambs against the part thst connects to the pedal, place the part that fastens to the pedal in your vise and use the correct size wrench or spanner on the little nut. Don't hold the rod.

Thanks guys for the help. I didn't think about letting it set up. Im still a little weary about that....don't wanna break a connection if it is tight. I doubt its bound tho as its a new guitar.
