I primarily play pedal steel. I am concentrating for a while on my 10 string B6 lap steel. (I tune it to B6 to resemble my U12 configuration.)
I would like some advice. What are the basic and fundamental slants and slant-chords that everyone should master as part of their foundation technique on the non-pedal steel?
I don't need to get esoteric, but I would like to assemble basic skills. (I'm getting old snd I'm intrigued by the thought of a rig I can throw over my shoulder and carry away without hiring a moving company!)
Any advice will be considered and appreciated.

A nice study to begin with is the major scale, harmonized with thirds. Here's the 8 scale degrees, staring at the twelfth fret. The only slants needed here are the 4th and 5th degrees. They are called backward slants, because the tip of the bar points to your left. Note these two slants also skip a string, which makes them easier to play than a slant between adjacent strings:

Believe it or not, It took me a really long time to discover this arrangement, because the fourth and fifth degrees are somewhat hidden among the close intervals of the middle strings. |

Thanks. I'll add that scale exercise.
I already use a couple of back slant positions to get 3 note 9th chords, and Diminished (?) chord, and I often forward slant to get a dom 7th and an augmented chord....none of these slants have less than at least one string between them.
