India International Guitar Festival 2015
Dedicated to the Father of Indian Slide Guitar Pandit Brij Bhushan Kabra.
The foremost Slide Guitar Festival in Asia, is going to be held in Kolkata, India from January 7th to 11th, 2015.
Venue: ICCR Kolkata
Artists, producers, international music press and many enthusiastic guitar players of the country are expected to be participating in the five day event.
Concerts, seminars, contests interactive sessions incorporating the various styles and forms of guitar playing - Indian classical, blues, jazz, bluegrass, Hawaiian, folk and more…- all add up to the spirit of celebration of guitar music and its link with this historical city.
This event will feature illustrious artists from India and around the world:
Pandit Brij Bhushan Kabra, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya and Dr.Kamala Shankar (India).
Johannes Moller (Sweden), Jeff Peterson (Hawaii), Jeff Lang, Nick Rheinberger (Australia), William Cardine and Alan Akaka (USA), and many participants from ten other nations will create a Vasundhara Mahotsav Universal Fest) together.
Seminar and Masterclasses::
The arrival of the slide guitar in India
Evolution of music in slide guitar, technique, history and making of the guitars
Lectures on own creations and modifications by Pandit Brij Bhushan Kabra, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya and Dr.Kamala Shankar. Slide guitar workshop on blues, by Nick Rheinberger, Jeff Lang, Jazz and bluegrass by William Cardine, Hawaiian by Jeff Peterson and Alan Akaka. The workshops will aim to produce musical collaboration of artistes from India and participating countries. This will culminate in a grand finale concert.
Concerts of Indian and international musicians- One of the major attractions of the festival. - details to be announced.
