Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything on a search.
Does anyone else have a problem with the chrome bridge covers of a Stringmaster rattling in sympathy with the strings?
I've now got big blobs of blu-tac (as sort of plastic putty intended to attach posters and thinks to the wall) under the covers but thought there might be a more elegant solution I hadn't thought of. |

I have very very gently bent the sides at the mounting holes. The cover can still be removed for string chances, but doesn't rattle at all. |

I'm pretty sure they came with a small pieces of electrical tape on them... that's how I found the ones on my '58 T8. All it takes is two pieces, 1/3" of tape, wrapped across the base from outside to inside, on either side of the 'thumbnail notch'... at the back of the cover. Gives a surface to ride on that's not metal-to-metal. If you're persnickety about looks then trim the outside of the pieces after they make the bend from inside to outside. Or do as I do, leave the covers off. _________________ New FB Page: Lap Steel Licks And Stuff: https://www.facebook.com/groups/195394851800329 |

It worked on my 1957 Fender Champ six string lap. Some of the old tape was still inside the cover. It was to hard to remove so I just taped over it. I was wondering what those black strips inside the cover were.
Thanks Stephen! |
