I download a backing track from the internet, then modify (usually the pitch). Then I load the track into iTunes to see if it's OK. Not wanting to load up iTunes, I want to delete the track after checking. That deletes the modified track that I just loaded. Does anyone have a solution so I can keep the original modified track?

You should be able to grab the track from your song list and put it on your desktop, then once you have it on the desktop, delete it........ However with that said I always back stuff up and ITunes is a great way to do it. I separate stuff by Playlists, and always put the date and artist on track info. If you store it in ICloud you can always have your material available to play anywhere. I know I know .........I can hear the groans already

You can listen to any sound file from within Finder without loading it into iTunes. Highlight the file and press the spacebar. It will open a window and play the file in it.
