Here is an interesting guitar that apparently was found in a pawnshop in Nashville, Tennessee. It likely started life as a 1955-1966 salmon-colored Gibson Century 6.
Thought that perhaps someone would recognize this distinctive instrument, and would be able to offer some details as to its owner and/or its customizer. Doubtful it came out of Kalamazoo looking like this.

I would say that qualifies as garish, maybe even lurid. What did they do to the fretboard? Oy vey ist mir! Kind of looks like they were trying to emulate the shape of an E-Harp's fretboard. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

I don't know who did all that to that poor little steel but they must have had a lot of spare time on their hands. _________________ I have stuff.

I liked Russ's comment about the button collector. I was at an old button factory once, and they had burlap bags full of pearl and abalone button blamks sitting in the warehouse. They said the blanks were old (50's maybe), and that nobody wanted real pearl buttons anymore, since they often broke. That was probably the source for these inlays. _________________ 1974 Marlen S-12 1968 Tele 1969 Martin D-35H |

A friend of mine had an old Gibsom Mandola that had been given the reinstone treatment. She had them removed except for a few on the headstock just to give it some sparkle on stage.
Did Elton John ever have a lap steel player? |
