Kudos to Billy Coopers Music, Orange, VA for the cleaning and tuneup they did on my 77 MSA Classic. The guitar plays sooo much smoother.

Billy was nice enough to have the guitar waiting for me so's he could make a final "short guy" adjustment to the vertical knee.

The charges were more than reasonable (under budget actually) and the Coopers are 2 of the finest folks you'd ever have the joy of doing business with.

Two Thumbs Up!!

I have heard great things about Coopers Music. My boy D-Lo went there and said he had over 100 steels on the floor.

Don't know about 100 steels, but, lots of new Derby's and totally refurbed Emmons, Sho-Bud, Sierra, MSA, Fender, Fessy...

I've probably missed a few.

Go to his website (above) His inventory is listed.

A great place!

Howard is right. The Coopers are wonderful people and his steels are in great shape. I was over there in December and he had a whole bunch of steels in his place. I don't know if it was a hundred, but it may have been. I wasn't able to afford one of his steels at the time, they aren't cheap, but they sure sounded good. Billy fixes them up himself in his workshop in the back of the store.

Hearing all these great things said about two of the greatest folks I know is refreshing at the least. Their greatness is their honor and sincerity for their fellow man of which many happen to also be customers. Their guitar prices are right in line with where they should be and underpriced in some cases simply because of all that Billy does to get em fixed up and set up. What a great little machine shop he has and he knows how to do it right. You won't find any junk on their floors. Not only can you buy a great guitar at a fair price but you will always get what you paid for that day and the follow up services they provide are unmatched. I say all these things though they are really unnecessary...because what they really work for is your business for today but more important they want you to come back and bring your friends....and it shows by the way you are treated there.

May I also add that my friend Bill is a

gifted and talented teacher!

He has developed a very comprehensive set of learning/teaching materials. If you are a beginner and have “no clue” (like I was!), Billy can answer any question and get you going the right way. I know he did for me! At any level of experience, this dude can “light your fire”!

I’ll never forget the time he took a red marker and “painted” my 5th string red, so I could find it without having to “count down from the top”. I felt a bit embarrassed by that, ego and all, but by gum it helped! He is a top notch picker with the patience a student might dream for. Later, the “red” string never came back and he taught me to play “6th” stuff on an E9 neck, as well as Texas swing. I play pretty well today, thanks to Bill.

Still, my favorite moment was when I got to “jam” with Billy and Wanda. It was an impromptu thing after a lesson. I grabbed a Martin 6string acoustic, Bill started a rhythm track, and off we went. Wanda sang lead, I strummed the Martin and sang some backup. We sang songs of hope and praise. And Bill’s steel playing was out of this world! I felt very honored to be a little part of it.

My best to you all, -Dave

I say "Ditto" to all those kind words. I was there late last year for the second time and the shop is "Steel Guitar Heaven". Billy and Wanda are very fine people and I have gained a lot of help from the material I purchased there. I live in the Tidewater area of Virginia and you can't find one Pedal Steel Guitar in a music shop here. However, that shop in Orange, VA is loaded with them. Looking forward to seeing Billy and Wanda again soon.
