Erv, previous owner had a Fender lap steel installed on the guitar instead of the arm rest, guitar sounds great, and buyer will have a chance to set it up like that again if he wants to, because holes are already ready, if not he can always play it the way it is, with an arm rest _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com |

Is that another hole under the fretboard? Just curious how and why you'd want giant holes in order to put a lap steel on the pad side. |

both holes are under the arm rest, and covered, it was done using Fender parts, you can tell by the shapes of the holes _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com |

Oh, of course, that makes perfect sense, looks like stock Fender. I guess that dark area over the LKR is just a shadow?
Thanks! |

I think it is a foam pad to keep the rods from rattling |

I think you're right Mike. Still, I can't quite understand the holes for the lap steel on the pad, and I'm curious... |

So you can string it from bottom like a a telecaster I'm guessing and not have to remove it. Nice looking LDG and I hear they got great tone. Don't think the holes would hurt a thing. They were neatly done too. _________________ Henry Matthews

Yeah, maybe if a Champ were permanently attached, the big hole would make the tuners accessable. Never seen that before. I wonder if a Bakelite Rick would fit? |

Are there any pictures of this set up with the Fender attached? Would like to see how it would work if put back. |

Jay, I dont have any pictures, but what I'm thinking he did was, he didn't attach the whole steel, he just used a Fender key head, which would fit perfectly into a bigger hole, Fender fret board and the part you attach strings to it... I never thought about anything like that, but I would imagine it would look really cool if done right... end if owner wants to have that configuration again, the holes are already there... very interesting concept if you ask me...

This is the lowest price I have seen a LDG. It looks like nice shape \. I don't see why these holes should matter. |

Paul, yes, this is $2400 guitar, only thing it needs is some good polishing, I got it as a part of the trade, someone will get a great guitar for bargain price...and the coolest thing is, guitar was built by Paul Franklin Sr _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com |
