Exceptionally clean 22.5†scale Stringmaster T-8, circa 1964-66. Plays beautifully—classic tone and excellent sustain. All original except for the three-position selector switch, which I replaced last week, and new rubber leg tips. The tuner assemblies are especially clean and all the tuners work smoothly. All control pots are clean.
I bought it from the original owner, an octogenarian who said he bought it new in 1966. He only played in church; this instrument has never seen cigarette smoke. There are no dates in the tuner pan cavities, only strips of masking tape with the initials “H.E.†penciled in. The center neck blend pot serial is 304-6351, which is a Stackpole brand made in the 51st week of 1963. I have not looked at the other pots.
As the photos show, the instrument is very clean, with very few dings or chips. Only very minor pitting on the center bridge cover, otherwise the chrome is superb. There is some degraded chrome on the small-diameter portion of two of the legs. The original black Tolex case shows some wear, but is structurally sound, with all latches and hinges in good working order.
$2,200 firm, plus actual shipping costs.
