am i correct?
theres a tune on it called
havent you heard.....
can you help me with that lick that runs
through the chorus and the outro?
the one moving in opposite directions
i so want to learn that

Mike,
Thanks for asking. If it's the song I believe it is, it's played on the C6th.
Lower string 6 (E) a whole tone and pick strings 5 and 6 together, then release the pedal and pick string 1 (D) without muting anything throughout this lick, now pick strings 3 (C) and 4 (A) together and then at the same time press the pedal that raises those two strings a whole tone along with the pedal that lowers string 6 a whole tone to complete the lick.
Sounds like the E9th.

Well shut my mouth Paul i thought you did that by lowering the 7th string(f#)a whole tone(e), pick 4 and 8 then4 and7 then 4 and6 and 4and 5 with b pedal down then depress raise lever and the a pedal real slow don't mute anything,sound's close anyway.,sound's like the 7th srring is raising rather than lowering,,Charlie..

Mike, after that record came out, shortly thereafter Paul and Jeff Newman came to Houston to do a seminar.
Knowing this Franklin kid as long as I have, I mentioned that I had a hard time trying to learn this song so that I could play it on the bandstand. I said to Paul, "I just can't find the right notes on this E9th, I'm close, but not close enough. Paul is his nice way said, "Well, the reason for that is, you are playing it on the wrong neck, go to the C6th; and he showed me how to do it, and lo' and behold, it worked! Paul won't remember that, although he might, but never
the less, I got it a lot closer.

tommy i know what you mean when i first heard this song i kept thinking e9 too
i guess i just didnt think slow tune
like that on c6 others yes but not this one!!
being the pro like PAUL is i think he may have stumped other players as well
but buddy emmons does that too
boy you never get to old to learn do you?
thats one reason i like steel theres just so much you can play its great
