I think that a Pedal Steel and a Lap Steel has more Sustain with a wooden neck that a Aluminum one. I had built Two Single neck Pedal steels and one was a wooden neck and the other was a Aluminum Neck. The one with the Wooden neck had lots more Sustain than the one with the Aluminum neck. I have had people tell me that they sound the same.I beg the differ.I know what I hear even with out my hearing aids.I bought the Pedal Steel that Jack palmer and Ray Walker took two years to build and that had a wooden neck and Ray Walker could not beleave the sustain when he sat and played it he did not want to get away from it.I hope to some day to buy it back from Jerry out in Origin. hopefully.

The only way to be certain,is to hook both materials up to a Sustain-O-Meter. Cool
