Hi all,
I have a rather inexpensive Morrell, I love the guitar but it's factory pickup is lacking, which is a Kent Armstrong Strat single pickup.
I would welcome suggestions on a good replacement pickup that would drop right in, and give me a fuller sound than I am currently getting. Thanks

A Kent Armstrong pickup should be strong. The pickup needs to be quite close to the strings to get a full sound. Look at a Strat guitar, the pickups are usually about 1/8th inch from the strings. I've seen lots of steels where the pickup is 1/2 inch or more from the strings, and it aint never gonna sound strong like that. Also, the sound can be improved on any pickup by bypassing the crappy control pots and wiring the pickup straight to the output socket. Alternatively, replace the pots with 250k ohm CTS pots, an Orange Drop capacitor and a Switchcraft output socket. Much, much better than the cheapo chinese junk most instruments come with.

Have you checked out Lollar pick ups? They might have one. They've helped me with a poor pick up in a lap steel I have.
