I own one of each. The uni is under construction, the ext is out to a student.

When I got my Kline Uni, I played it as extended E9th. Then one day, at home practicing, I thought, "What do these other pedals do?" I had already incorporated all 7 knees into my "E9th" thinking. Soon it became one big tuning.

Sierra 12 string extended E9 (sort of)!

I don't have the D string. Have 3 pedals / 5 knee levers and can build any extended chord I need.

"Zum 6x7 Zane Beck"

What is that? My Kline was 6 & 7. I didm't know what they did,,,, I just played it. Thinking about getting a Shobud 12 and setting it up the same as my Kline.

I played Extended E9th for over 30 years, but I never tried the U-12 copedent. Too many pedals - 5 is my limit.

It is a Zum S-12 with 6 levers and 7 pedals. It is Zane Beck's U-12 tuning which is four pedals with 3 C6 pedals added like Zane King has.

I have two universals - one Zum that has switched a few times between a typical Uni and the Tony Glassman coped, and one Sho-Bud I restored, but have yet to finish getting it set up as a Uni. I could put it back as an Ext. 12 pretty easily.
