Elsewhere on the SGF today is a lengthy, thought provoking and funny post about Buddy Emmons' famous eye-catching bowler/derby hat.

Lots of 'famous' people or celebrities have worn them as has been pictorially shown in the post.

What about a steel players other options?
Kid Rock has a nice 'cover' as did Daniel Boon.
Surely there must be a 'deserving hat' that has been for far too long overlooked, that some steel player should be able to acquire that could one day become as famous as that of Buddy Emmons.

WHAT say you?

I'll email a free funny biz card to the first person who identifies this good looking dude with the hat.

Unless there's a spotlight innvolved, I don't wear a hat. But there's a lot of glare off my head when a spot hits it, so I'll cover it up. A ballcap works pretty good---When I'm drunk, I'll make a copy of the set list, and tape it to the underside of the bill.

I always wear a 5" brim x 7" crown Resistol or Stetson in Black, Tan or Brown depending on the color of clothes I'm wearing. Somewhere I have a picture of Jimmy Crawford wearing the black one when he was in Reno with Slim Whitman-1981-82. I told him he needed to buy one so he could be cool like Buddy.

Whoa, Sorry, but Billy is wrong. He is not Wayne "Linkon", rather he is Wayne Link from Winnipeg.. He named his guitars LINKON.
Sorry about that Billy, but you're half right..
Do I get a Business card too???? lol

Well, you are both half right. I know him as the Missing Link and he has a great sense of humor. Your biz card is on it's way. Very Happy

Is this hat thingy a phenomenon among steel players only?

Do Oboe players, Tambourine and/or Glockenspiel players go thro' this same mind boggling dilemma?

Just watched another show in the television series
"Doctor Quinn-Medicine Woman"........

Happened to notice that the telegraph clerk Horace Bing in the show often wears his Bowler Hat, even when he's riding in a search party.

Now that's class!

These are my favourite hats. I sometimes wear a Stetson. It depends on what sort of music I'm playing, what mood I'm in at the time, and whether or not it's raining. Winking

Here is my son wearing a hat that belonged to Buddy Charleton. I'm not much of a hat person myself:
