For all those crying over how no one uses steel guitar anymore, my friend just shot this last night in Lafayette, Louisiana. The great Wayne Toups with two (yes, count 'em, two) steel guitars, not to speak of three fiddles and a great rhythm section. Yessir!
These guys forumites?

Hi Folks, it's Richard and I. We asked to sit next to each other so we could twin-up but it obviously didn't work out. Richard played his green Ritt and I played my newly upgraded '68 Fender 2000 per Wayne's request. (When we were teenagers almost all of the steelers in Cajun music were playing the Fender 400 or 1000. Orsey Vanicor still does. Wayne asked me to find an old Fender and play it this year. Thanks to Jim Palenscar the guitar has 4 knee levers and was ready in time.)
Best regards.... _________________ RETIRED

And my pal Joel Savoy as one of the fiddlers. One of the most talented humans I've had the luck to know. I'd sure love to hear Orsy Vanicor play in person...
We even do a little up here in the Northwest. http://youtu.be/p8XH4m46bZI _________________ "The Masher of Touch and Tone"

Dick, thank you and it is fun.
Jim, we should get together the next time I'm in Seattle. _________________ RETIRED

The task of adding the knee levers paled in comparison to the task of taking 1 1/2" outta the center of the guitar ~ all's well that ends well~ |
