Around a hundred bucks using the Big Three. If it's less, they're skimping on the bracing. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I would avoid UPS if at all possible! I normally obtain shipping quotes from the Fedex site beforehand. You will need to have the measurements, the approximate weight (including packaging), and the zip code for its destination for an accurate quote..FWIW: Removing the speakers and boxing them separately may greatly increase the chances of your amp arriving undamaged. |

BRACE FROM TRANSFORMER TO BOTTOM OF CABINET.
Whether you use any one of the big three, it will stand a chance (from 5 to 56%) of dropping from the cart.
If you want an amp instead of a cargo claim, package it to withstand a 3 foot drop to concrete.
If it drops, the trannies will try to pull the chassis to the bottom. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

the only difference between UPS and FED EX are the letters in the name, they both have very similar automated systems which can allow a package to drop 3 feet or more...
Consider Greyhound if possible...
IF possible, remove speakers and tubes, pack separate. If REALLY possible remove the chassis and ship separate.
Do not allow FED EX or UPS store clerks to pack for you..Something like this requires a legitimate pro to pack..or someone with experience. Double box, ridiculous packing materials etc...The transformer side of the Twin will rip the cab apart at the top corner and as Lane so properly states, will bend the chassis...if you allow it to...
If you have to stick it in a box, put it in upside down, mark the opposite end as TOP with the shipping label...basically putting the weight at the bottom.
Packing a Twin is not for the faint of heart...
So why are the amps not damaged at the stores ? Easy..they are shipped from the point of origin by truck on a pallet ,many boxes strapped together, strapped to the pallet. they never go on a conveyor . _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

Tony, the heavy stuff doesn't ride the automated system. They ride (in UPS, USPS and FedEx) on carts with solid rubber tires, no springs and only a 1" lip.
The carts ride rough and jiggly, and up to 7% falls off per trip. With 8 cart trips per package, that's 56% chance of dropping.
The belts are pretty safe. ICs (the term for the big stuff) account for nearly all damage claims. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
