Are you looking for replacement tuners? Any standard guitar tuner set should work fine.

Check with Stewart-MacDonald or your local music store.

Maybe Ron wants to be historically accurate, but more information is needed.

Ron, by "old Dobro" do you mean a guitar from 1970 forward from the O.M.I. Dobro era, or a really old Dobro from the Pre WWII era?

If it is pre-war you're talking about, good luck on finding tuners that someone keeps in a drawer that came off in good working condition. Quite often pre-war Dobro tuners at this age in 2014 are pretty well shot, though of course it doesn't hurt to ask.

Another piece of information that is needed is if you are looking for tuners for a slotted headstock or solid headstock. As Brad noted (depending on the headstock), a standard set should work fine, but more specifically from Stew-Mac you can get Golden Age Restoration Tuners, check out this page:

http://www.stewmac.com/SiteSearch/golden%20age%20restoration.html

Another avenue, which was taken a year or so ago by The Seldom Scene's dobro player Fred Travers when the original tuners were giving him a lot of problems on his main axe, a pre-war Dobro, were these nice looking National tuners Paul Beard stocks at Resophonic Outfitters for slotted headstock dobros:

https://www.beardguitars.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RO&Product_Code=NTM-303&Category_Code=TM

None of the above recommendations are cheap - the National tuners in the photo sell for $70 a set.

But once again, unless you've already found what you're looking for, more information is needed.

I did mean older, guess I should say its a 1937 Dobro with solid head and 2 of the keys don't work so if I can't find some i'll just replace them all. I will try Stew Mac and see what they have. Thanks, Ron

Might be worth a call to Paul Beard to see what he uses on pre-war restorations. He does all of Gruhn's work.

I know he has been using open gear Waverly machines on some of his recent custom work. They would certainly have the look. I don't know if there would be any mounting issues. He can advise.

He does not list the Waverly on his web store. It would be worth a call. 301-733-8271
