What's on there now? I think I'd lower 4 a half (and, because I find it useful, I'd add another rod and crank and drop 8 a whole), since you can get a Bb by half-pedaling P4. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I have it raised and lowered a half tone. By far I use the half tone raise the most. Of course with the traditional floor pedal setup I will guess that you raise it a whole tone with your floor pedal(s).

Greg, I just had an odd thought, tell me what you think of this:
1) Whereas the 4th string seldom gets pulled to B (excluding P7), and;
2) As the 8th string rarely goes to Bb,
Why not have P4 asymmetrical, pulling 4 a half and 8 a whole? _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

But Lane, you very often want A-Bb with P6. I copied Buck Reid and raise S4 1/2 and lower S9 a whole step on RKR ! |

The A-B change on p4 is not redundant with either the C-B lever or p7. It raises s4 and allows a half-step between s3 and s4. It also allows a slur. It is what it is; whether or not you use it depends on what is in your basket of tricks.
I find it essential when playing in a minor key.
A-Bb to me is a whole 'nuther ball game. I gotta have it by itself because I use it so frequently, by itself as a b7 open or in combination with p5, p6 and p8.
So, uh... what was the question again? _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

The question is why not put them both on the same lever, since they both combine well with the other pedals. |

0h, thank you Doug. I do appreciate it.
I just re-read the original question. My answer is I use A-Bb WAAY more than I use A-Ab. Though I do use both most regularly.
As to the A-Bb-B on one lever or two:
I personally have the changes on two mechanisms... one a pedal and one a lever... for purely personal reasons. Namely, I don't want to have to worry about correctly feeling a half-stop notch; I want to feel the stop there whether a whole or half tone. I play lots of C6, but for someone who doesnt' expect much activity down south, my copedent may not be what the Dr. ordered.
YMMV. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

I use my A>Ab lever more than anything on the C6 neck. The A>Bb is next, though, for me. |
