Buddy Doyle of Waller, TX passed away around 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday September 16, 2014. He is well known around the Houston area. In the past he was the steel guitarist for the Doyle Brothers Band and recorded with quite a few singers. These included Eddie Noack and George Jones. These were back in the 50's.
The services are set for 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 20 at The Living Waters Assembly of God Church in Magnolia, TX. 622 Commerce St.

I knew Buddy Doyle and would visit with him when he came to the Dallas Steel Jamboree. I also ran across him for the first time at an obscure Western Swing event when I was just learning to play steel. He told me that I would be a good player because I played in tune. I was encouraged by that comment and never forgot it. I took lessons from Jeff Newman in 2000 and he told me how when he was a kid he used to find out where Buddy was playing and sneak up and peek in the window to watch him. Buddy was well liked and revered by his contemporaries. May he rest in peace.

Buddy was a friend of over 60 years. We shared a lot of laughs talking about the Houston area musicians that were playing back in the 40's/50's. Doug I also remember those days with Eddie Noack, Floyd Tilman, Leon Payne, Hank Locklin and others.
Rest in peace old friend.

Wow, I'm saddened to hear of the passing of Buddy, he was a good pal for a lot of years. I'll miss him at the TSGA Jamboree for sure. Another of the good old timers gone.
