I've never heard Curley's version, but I don't see any need to now. William seems to have covered it as good as it can get. Just BIAB and a webcam and he gets that kind of results.... almost unbelievable. I guess William stays too busy with his teaching to play steel shows. With the Internet it's not necessary to attend the shows to promote your teaching like Jeff Newman used to do. I know a lot of people would like to see William on some live shows. He would no doubt get some attention with his playing.

Years ago, I was searching for all the steel music I could download,on the original Napster. I ran across Curley's version with which most definitely he was wowing the other players. At one riff, he took his version so far off norm, that the guys around him made comments wondering if he would ever get back to the basic song. Just like you, William, he certainly did, with finess, and blew the socks off the crowd around him.
Until tonight, I had searched for his version, and now you have ended my search. Thanks for the great rendition and tribute to Curley.
You nailed it! |

Bill,
Your comment about a few riffs that are so far off the norm are so accurate to what William is doing these days. The section between 2:48 and 3:48 in this rendition by William is just incredible.

Another tasteful song from William filled with challenging riffs. Good candidate for a project song. |

Thanks guys. Mr.Chalker was such a master at his craft. Hard to get what he was thinking. Bill I got out there a time or two and did not know if I was going to get back to where I needed to be either ! Richard I use a Nashville 1000 and a cheap delay and the main thing , an Emmons guitar..... Thanks to all my guys that support me and what I do on the steel guitar........ _________________ William Litaker
