Hi Todd. Should have it in hand in a couple of days. Sure is clean thats for sure. Wanted something for open tuning to mostly play slide style on. I'll let you know how it works out. If it sounds 1/2 as good as it looks I'll be happy.

That sure is a sweet one! Do you know what year it is? I have an Oahu/National with exactly the same bridge, pickup, tuners, knobs, number plate, neck profile, and mother of toilet seat finish. They must be the same year. My guess is 1948 or 1949. Many of the parts are similar to my Supro. I'll tell you one thing, that pickup (at least the one on my Supro) sounds HUGE.

Its a 1956 according to the serial number and date chart. I should have it Friday the 26th and will give a better report then.
This one was so clean I couldnt pass it up.

| My guess was 1949 because I saw an identical supro in the big history of steel guitar book that was listed as a '49. The tone is huge on it. I heard that guitars with this pickup were David Lindley's favorites. I have a chrome cover plate over my pickup, and it looks like yours had one too at one point. The nuts that hold it on have a smooth plastic (ivory) finish. Wouldn't it be cool to stumble on the garage full of spare parts that is probably hiding somewhere in Ohio or Illinois? Oh well, -in my dreams. |
