I had the extreme good fortune of coming across a 1980 Emmons PP. It was owned by a private studio here in seattle. They took it to a local pro audio dealer, being as I make my living as a recording engineer the dealer was a friend of mine. He sent me an email with a picture and 2 days later it was in my house. It was playable but had been neglected, probably in it's case for many years.
I made the 3 and 1/2 hour drive down to Lynn's place with it and my Fessenden. He spent the day setting up my Fessenden. It was a joy to watch him work, he is a stickler for detail and his love of the pedal steel shows through in every detail he considers. I came home that day and my Fessenden was amazing to play!
The Emmons I left with him for a complete rebuild. I went to pick it up a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't believe my eyes. The guitar was beautiful! Even more amazing was how it played! I am a fairly new player and already the feel of the pedals has had an impact on my playing. The A pedal pull is so smooth and has allowed me to make that pull much more expressive.
Bob Littleton of West Coast Steel Guitar made me a great split case so I am ready to take the guitar out with the band.

Really nice. Another example of Lynn's outstanding work.
Mentioned only as an observation, I noticed the tuners have been changed from "tulip" to "butter bean" ones? I have always liked the look of the older "bean" tuners versus those that are on the later models.

Thanks, you guys. Eric, the tuner change was my call. The original tuners were in bad shape, loose and several had bent shafts. I had the guitar for about a year before taking it to Lynn, in that time I had grown to dislike the feel of the tulip style tuners. When Lynn told me he could replace them with the "bean" style tuners I was very happy. And yeah I think they look cooler too.

Yet another "congratulations" Ed, you clearly took it to the right man.
Lynn is an unrelenting master craftsman, and as fair and honest as they get!
He does not disappoint. You clearly made the right choice. The extra plus is that you will find the same beauty and relation to detail in all the places you 'can't' see! |

Great work Lynn. I'll give it an A+ for both top and bottom side. I've taken note of your work for years. You've always done nice work. But you just keep getting better. I feel safe in saying you've arrived. For what it's worth, Congratulations. I look forward to seeing many more.

I want to extend my upmost thanks to my friend, Ed for posting this topic and all the gentlemen that have posted their very kind words here. I'm flattered, of course but very humbled at the same time.
Over the past several years here, I've been fortunate enough to have gotten to know most of you personally. I've had the pleasure of doing business with Matt, Bobby and Dave. I am actually in the process of restoring one of Matt's guitars right now and will be working on another one of Dave's soon.
I've had the opportunity to have talked with both Eric and Bobby on the phone on several occasions. A few years ago, I purchased an Emmons PP from Bobby, who is a very honest and knowledgeable man. Thanks to Carl, I own one of his fine tuning wrenches!
I've developed great relationships these folks, along with others here on the Forum that are really too numerous to mention here. For that I feel blessed and am very grateful.

Wow that's beautiful. All I can say is... well not covet, that wouldn't be right. But pretty darn close. You're going to enjoy that Ed. And it's the right color. I can hear it all the way from here.

Thanks for your kind words, Dan. That RKR extension has usually been installed by the Emmons factory in later years. It's made of 1/8 x 3/4 x 3/4 aluminum angle and just pivots 90 degrees on an 8-32 oval head screw.
