Don't have a lot of info on this item. Mandolin is a 12 string, with no name. It has a crack in back but does not affect the sound. But could be repair if need be. Apprised by USM music dept. and other sources for $900.00 - $1000.00, asking $600.00 plus shipping. Call 601-544-7486

Hi Joe,
See the O and S on the pickguard? That instrument was made by/sold by/marketed by Oscar Schmidt. I've mentioned all three "bys", because OS didn't make all their own instruments. Several other builders might have made them. Even though it has 12 strings, it's still a mando, but with with the right strings, could be tuned like a tiple.

Oscar Schmidt marketed it, and/or sold it to a dealer. Who built it is still unknown, but probably not Oscar Schmidt.

You've got it right, Joe. It is a 12-string, four course bowlback mandolin, which can also be called (correctly) a mandriola or potato-bug style instrument, marketed by Oscar Schmidt. Unless it says who made it for Schmidt inside the bowl, you can't be sure.
