Do they take reservations or do you have to just bite the bullet and stand in line for two hours? What time do they play? Anybody have a phone number for the 3rd and Lindsley location? How about a street address for a GPS?
This will be my first time seeing them and I am excited to finally get to do it. |

Hey George,
Yes, you have to call the venue, I think it is 3RD & Lindsley, or something like that for reservations. Check the Time Jumpers website. We are going to be in town and bought our tickets about 3 or 4 months ago. But I think that tickets are limited and they do sell out. Call and check ahead of time. Good luck! |

George, Ive been there a few times. The Band starts at 9PM. I always arrive around 6 ish to be guaranteed a good seat. I know its a long wait but you can order some food after you arrive. Also part of the show for me is watching the group coming in and settin up. Its a good time and worth the wait. Plus Vince is so much of a ordinary guy he will talk and joke around with the public as he is setting up. Say hi to Mrs. John Hughey as she takes your money at the door. They perform 2 sets with a half hour break in between. Hope you have a good time. _________________ Justice Prolite Sd 10 Mullen D10

I got all the information I needed from the Time Jumpers web site. I am all set with 3 tickets for Monday night. The bummer is, we are only guaranteed admission, not a seat. So we have to get there early and stand in line for a seat. Otherwise, we will be standing up. |

This sounds kind of ridiculous. If it's predictable that they won't have enough seats to accommodate everyone, why not move to a larger venue. The ET record shop theater is probably available on Monday nights....... but it's alcohol free. I guess the question is if the crowd would be that large if they were not allowed to drink. They have food too. I was there a couple of weeks ago for the Little Walter Amp Jam and the chicken wings were really good. I'm not much of a swing fan, but Dawn Sears can sing a country ballad as good as anyone I've ever heard and the band is great. Love those fiddles! I guess it's worth standing in line for.
George - hope you have a great time. Be careful and have a safe trip. A thought... Maybe they need three fiddlers to play as much as your guy?

As you probably know Rick they've already moved to a larger venue once, from the Station Inn to 3rd & Lindsley. As Vince began to perform more and more with the group the size of the crowd continued to swell.
I was at ResoSummit in Nashville in late October 2010 and after the conference was over on Sunday afternoon I spent a couple extra days at a buddy's house who moved a few years prior from Northern California to Franklin. He gave me the Broadway tour and we did the touristy things.
I thought about going down Monday evening to the Station Inn to catch the Time Jumpers but my friend didn't want to go, he'd seen them about five times since he moved there, but he told my I was welcome to use his truck but that I'd better get in line at 6 pm. I don't think the doors even opened until close to 9, and it was getting pretty chilly so I said no thanks.
Turned out to be a great evening at my friend's house - his wife cooked a wonderful dinner and we watched my beloved Giants clinch their first World Series since moving to San Francisco in 1958 and polished off a good bit of a bottle of Gentleman Jack during the game.
During the dobro conference we had three special shows geared for the group at The Station Inn, and even though i really wanted to catch The Time Jumpers, on Monday, standing in line for almost three hours - I don't think I've done that since the days of some of the great rock shows at Winterland - I'm getting too old for that stuff no matter who is playing.
So 3rd & Lindsley is larger - but they've gotta draw the line somewhere. If The time Jumpers move to too large a venue for the regular Monday night gigs I think it would lose a lot of the flavor. _________________ Mark |

George, I was there in Feb and didn't stand in line at all. Like I said earlier get there early grab a table and order some food. Not as long of a wait as it seems. Very well worth the wait.. GOOD STUFF... _________________ Justice Prolite Sd 10 Mullen D10

Mark,
I'm with you. I won't do much standing in line for anything. From what people are saying, maybe it's not so crowded all the time. I supposed you're right that too big of a venue wouldn't be good either. In any case, it's a great band.
Back when I was playing a lot of bluegrass, I played the Station Inn several times with various groups. Sometimes it was standing room only, and other times there was hardly anyone there.
I went to see Johnny Paycheck at a club just after he starting playing again after his, as he put it: "little vacation, all expenses paid". In order to get a seat, I had to get there about 6:00 and then about 8:00 a local band played southern rock covers for two hours before Johnny came out and did about 45 minutes. By the time Johnny came out my ears were so tired and I was so frustrated that it was hard to enjoy the show.

To me, there ain't nothin' worse than standing in line to see a band, even if they are great players. Went to see Steely Dan, a week ago in OKC. Walked right in, sat down, enjoyed a fantastic show with a top notch band. Same thing with the OKC Thunder basketball team, walk in, set down, enjoy the game, after the game, walk across the street, get in my truck and go home. No Standing in Line at "The Peake" here in OKC. and every home game is a sellout. Waitin' on anything much over 30min., I'm Done, and ready to hit the trail. I would love to see Paul play live, but it's not gonna happen, so I'll just stay here in the back woods, and enjoy watching on You-Tube. |
