Anyone know a good starting point for the clearance on a Alumatone Pickup ?? One quarter ? Two quarters ? Any suggestions? Thanks, Martin.

Martin,
I have Alumatones on three guitars, Emmons LeGrande SKH, Emmons LeGrande II, and a Zum D-10. the pick up frame is set on each guitar at +/- 1/8th inch below the strings, which puts the magnetic strip about 5/32nds below the strings. Super quiet great pickups.
Best regards, Jay Thompson

Martin,

I would most certain give you serveral quarters for that last pedal steel you built.

If you don't have two quarters I'll be glad to help.

Smile

Martin,

I recently replaced the BL-705 pickup on my Williams 700 SD-10 keyless with an Alumatone. I set the clearance at the 10th string at 2 quarters and at the 1st string at 3 quarters. I had used the same settings on my Star SD-10 when I replaced the Wallace Truetone with the Alumatone. This seems to cut back the highs produced by it. Hope this helps.
