The headstock sounds like one from a Madison, Tenn Permanent. The early ones didnt have rollers, and many believe they sound BEST. As to why it's a non-pedal is a good question. If you had a chance to look under it, look to see if stuff has been removed, like screw-holes and dents in the wood. If it's clean, and it works...it could be very very cool.
Any more info? It could be something to get...what are they asking for it? _________________ RICK ABBOTT

Some of the early Mavericks had no roller nuts. I didn't know this until recently and since I have seen 3 that did not have rollers. |

That is interesting! AND, there would be a huge difference in value between a Maverick and a Madison. Good info, Daniel. _________________ RICK ABBOTT

Rick, you and Daniel pretty much nailed it. With out pictures, any more is just speculation.
BTW, Bro. John B. was kind enough to allow me to purchase that stunning perm in your picture you posted. It sounds better than it looks. We figure it to be about 1959-ish. It was never a non pedal, as the pic might suggest. It had at one time 6 pedals and a knee lever. Pre-welded era. The keyheads are pre-rollers. _________________ "Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgement"~old cowboy proverb.

thanks guys.. i guess it dont really matter now.. I found the ad on craigslist and it was local to me.. I called and made arrangements to meet at the local wal mart and the owner was a no show.. it only had one picture of it and they said the name of the guitar was George L... haha.. but you could plainly see the sho bud fret board and see legs in the case. I tried calling the guy numerous times and got no answer. but anyways..thanks for the info. I thought there for a little while that me and my granddad was really on to something.. they were asking 300 for it.. thanks again guys! |

Even the lowly Maverick would be well worth that price. _________________ "Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgement"~old cowboy proverb.
