Blackwater will be the opening act on June 28th at the Greg Allman, Leon Russell concert at Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, CA, just north and east of Sacramento, CA.
This will be in their outdoor amphitheater that seats several thousand. I'm told the show is almost sold out, so hopefully this one won't get cancelled. The show starts at 6:30, and we go on first, of course. So don't be late.
Leon Russell apparently has a steel player (utility player) in his band, Beau Charron. I'm hoping to meet him. _________________ It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. |

The show is a go!! Blackwater has been rehearsing a bunch and is sounding really tight. We get half an hour. Should be fun. _________________ It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. |

It was hot (mid to upper 90s) and we played in the full sun. The sound was superb. I got to meet Beau Charron, the steel player for Leon Russell, and Gary Roda from Stockton who supplied the Emmons that Beau played. I also got to chat with Leon Russell for a minute or two. He was very friendly and approachable. Leon sounded great. Then the Gregg Allman Band took the stage (all 9 pieces). They were fantastic. Much better than I anticipated.
All in all a great gig.
(When we played people were still arriving. It was full for the headliners.) _________________ It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. |
