Red and Grey JCH D10. One of the very last JCH guitars built. The guitar has had one owner only....Buck Reid...It is the latest model JCH manufactured, and Buck assembled this guitar personally. Although currently it has no vertical levers, the provisions are there and the hardware will come with the guitar to install them, so 8+10 is possible....
The guitar has been meticulously cared for, and is tuned to perfection.

Wow!!! Now there's a guitar I wish I could afford!

And it begs the question - what is Buck going to play now???

As Mickey's involved I'd assume that a Mullen is a distinct possibility but I'll be watching this space!

Folks this is a wonderful guitar and now belongs to Mickey. I started working with Jimmie in 2000 shortly after he redesigned the changer which consisted of changing the design of the lower scissor to accommodate a longer return spring. This resulted in smoother and easier playability. I would guess and it's only a guess... that there were about 30 of these late model guitars built before Jimmie passed in 2005. I only say this because the second generation of JCH guitars offered a significant improvement mechanically speaking. Tone wise nothing really changed as all of Jimmie's guitars sounded great in my opinion. I've also provided Mickey with two un-used knee lever kits that I intended to install but never did... one standard and one vertical. One might say that this guitar is a piece of history and in top notch condition.

Hey Mickey,

Man, what a great guitar!

Given this guitar's recording and live stage history, the fact is was BUILT, OWNED and PLAYED by a steel guitar legend, and one of the last JCH guitars built, why don't you keep it?

I know you probably have several steels, but I'd be hard pressed to let this one go.

Chris: I don't think it matters what Buck ends up playing. He would sound fantastic on any guitar!

Bump for a fine, celebrity-owned steel!

Don

Don, a very valid question. I have a beautiful G2, and several other Mullens, and a few assorted straggler guitars...thats no secret. And yes, I agree with you with regards to Bucks talents...I just can't justify keeping them all, and this one is a REAL keeper for sure...We will see if it sells, and if so fine...if not, thats fine too!!...

Looking at the under carriage, are the end plates just tad thicker than an Emmons? Which would seem to help a lot with cabinet drop. Nice Guitar, will be lookin' forward to see what Buck comes up with, cause we know it's gonna be good......Whoever ends up with the JCH, is gonna be a Happy Camper!

Here's another take on this legendary guitar....it is the last guitar that Buddy Emmons touched in public, in front of an audience. The picture above confirms. RC

Mr Wilson, why would a thicker endplate reduce the cabinet drop? Don't make sence to a redneck like me.

Why didn't you tell me that the guitar would be for sale when you were in sweden!? I would have bought it from you instantly! Hands down the best guitar I've ever heard or played. Buck was graciuos enough to let me try it.

Tim, at the time the transfer of the guitar to me had not been completed, and Buck nor I was sure that it would. It was just timing I'm afraid. if you would like to PM me, I will be happy to discuss it with you....

Peter, I don't know why I thought thicker plates would make a difference in cabinet drop. Now that I think about it, it probably wouldn't change anything. Just a thought in my head, I guess. The JCH does look like a very well built steel though.

I feel like I should make it clear that I wasn't unhappy with this guitar... far from it! I was introduced to the Infinity guitars at the Dallas show in March, played one and fell in love with it. So... after playing the JCH for 13 years, I felt a change would hopefully bring out some new inspiration with regard to writing some new material and playing in general and it's doing just that. Just preference and time for change... that's something I think most of us can relate to. Smile

Bump for a great guitar!

You are correct Buck...my brother used to change Fender Jazz basses so often it was hard keeping track...but it was always like a shot in the arm to him playing wise...Unfortunately we just can't keep em all.
