Another picture that wont post,looks like it has a few bent rod. I'm new to steel guitars but I am a mechanic/fabricator/welder/cabinet maker and would like to find something I can restore and clean up to flip to something new. |

that is a Maverick my guess from the 70's. It started life as beginner guitar.

Assuming it need several parts, I wouldn't go over $200.00, or less depending on what parts is missing.

I am almost certain this is NOT a '57 shobud...it is more closer to a '73 or '74 MAVERICK(wraparound).I had one just like this that I played for almost 15 years(3 pedals and no knee levers)!
I paid $300 brand new...what's it worth=what ever the market will yield! I personally wouldn't pay more than $400 for it myself.
pics of the underneath would help. THESE GUITARS SOUNDED GOOD, AND HAD SOLID BIRDSEYE MAPLE CABINET the under carrage was the weak link in the chain so to speak

At the risk of repeating myself, if you're the person selling a "1957" Maverick on eBay, it's not 1957, it's a circa-early 70's student model. Sho-Bud was barely underway in a Madison TN garage in 1957, not geared up to manufacture student guitars.
I can't believe I get to write this twice in a day, but referring to that as a 1957 Sho-Bud is about as smart as talking about a 1923 Chevrolet Corvair.
Keep the $200 in your pocket and upgrade to a pro instrument.

Yeah, it's no 57. A Maverick. Great tone, but limited capabilities, unless you get clever with reversing pivots and the like. Shouldn't be worth more than 500 in top shape, but some folks have paid a grand or more.

According to the ser.# 2857, this steel is a Model 6138! It was built 11/24/1972 by Paul Franklin. I assume he also checked it. It was shipped 12/4/1972 to Gretsch in Elmhurst.

These guitars make excellent S10 non-pedal console guitars. I have two for that specific purpose. Johnny Cox also uses a Maverick for non-pedal occasionally, though lately he's been playing a Blattenberger lap guitar.
James Morehead also can make this model into a fully functional lightweight S-10 3/4
