Found this cool clip of Billy Mize playing a Fender 1000. Lots of hammer on's and pull off's and he is playing standing up. Anybody have any idea where he would have gotten the longer pedal rods? I guess one could get some machined pretty easily. it's just a straight rod threaded on one end and with an angled bend on the other.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit to find out he drove down to Fullerton and picked them up from Leo Fender, himself. |

I believe Noel Boggs had the same setup on a Fender
Pedal Steel. No knee levers, they could stand and play. I read somewhere bogg's was pretty tight with
Leo Fender. The first time I ever saw Wayne Gailey play in San Antonio Texas with Rose Maddox he was playing standing up playing a fender 1000. The dude could play lighting fast. My hero forever. That was in February 1962 on a package road show. |
