Contact Larry Tolliver via pm

He runs the "West Texas Steel Guitar School" that is in concept a follow on from Jeff Newman's school approach.

If you are simply looking for a live teacher, there are probably plenty near you, don't know how close San Marcos is to your location, but Kevin Ryan is a first class guy, and you can drool over steel guitars nearby at Jim Palenscar's San Diego store, too!

I highly recommend Mike Sweeney here in Nashville; he can teach at any level you might want, in person intensive or online:

Jim, I took lessons with John McClung when he lived in Lakewood, he has since moved to Washington state, and gives lessons via Skype. He has a very well-thought out and systematic curriculum. You'll probably go through at an accelerated pace since you've already got a solid background in music theory and six-string playing.

He's a forum member, you can look him up in the member list.

I have a great teacher. I was looking for something like a 2-3 day school or seminar type thing. Maybe something like Jeff Newman use to do.

Have you checked with Larry Toliver about his next West Texas Steel Guitar School? It's a great 2 day school, great hospitality, atmosphere and instructors.

I think this is a great idea - Its easy to squeeze in a workshop, and it gets local players together, who otherwise may not even know each other.

I agree. And Southern California would be a great place to start : )
