Oh man! Time for some steel guitar goodness with my homies. This month is especially good because there are TWO events! The Steel Guitar jam on Jul 6th, and the Wounded Warrior Fundraiser on Jul 13th. Time to pull out all the stops. Let's go!

Hey Y'all my wife and I are in town and will be stopping by the jam to check it out. What are some places around San Antonio that show case steel guitar or traditional country music? We've been to Austin and checked out The Broken Spoke, but are opting out of heading that way this time around. Where can an outta towner see some steel here in San Antonio?

Got some good news for you! Here is one spot you can fill your cup with steel guitar. The details are:

San Antonio Steel Guitar Assoc. will have the next jam session on July 6th, 2014 at the William Randolph American Legion Post #593 from 2pm until 5pm. Address is 326 W. Legion, Converse, Texas. Admission is free but a donation can will be passed for the Wounded Warriors Family Center at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio. We ask all steel guitar players, dobro players, non-pedal steel players to attend no matter what your skill level may be. Please be tuned and ready to play at 2pm. The American Legion will have hamburgers available and the canteen will be open for your favorite beverage. We will have a 4 SALE OR TRADE table available and please nothing that smokes, eats, smells bad or illegal. Our band will be on board to backup all musicians. I want to thank all of the players and our band and our featured performers for donating their time and travel at their own expense to help make these jam sessions a success. Ben Price, 210-255-1816 has details.

Also mark your calendars for Sunday, July 13 2 PM til 5 PM as the SASGA has organized a special event to support the Wounded Warriors Family Center. Players will be members of the SASGA, and the Ledbetters, an outstanding bluegrass band. Made in Texas and Southern Strangers round out the days performances. We are auctioning off a guitar, donated by Alamo Music for $10 a ticket with a max of 300 tickets to be sold. This guitar has been autographed by Billy Mata and Merle Haggard. More are being invited to sign. This will be at the China Grove Trading Post, 7393 US Hwy 87 East, China Grove, TX. Larrapin good barbeque will be available too. Contact Kenny Piper 210-240-5381. Yes this July will be one for the books. I'm so excited for the July 6th jam. I know we are going to have a wonderful jam with everyone. The donated Fender acoustic guitar being raffled off is being signed by some, if not all the greats, and we all tip our hats off for these signatures. We will see y'all this Sunday. Lets have some fun.

We had a great jam session with all the music, guests and good country swing music. Mark Mosely, Ben Price and ken piper did a great job putting this jam session on and look for a good time at Ken Pipers Wounded Warrior show on July 13th at 1 pm at the China Grove Trading Post in China Grove. One other bit is that Jim Atwood attended and played fiddle with the band and did great. He will be 82 this July 11. Ben Green from Oregon and his brother Nathan from San Antonio attended and it was a pleasure meeting them.

Look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday for a round of fun, a variety of music, good food, and some support for the Wounded Warriors Family center at Ft. Sam. It is going to be fun. Might even be some surprise activities there.
