I've had my Vintage Vibe Amp for a week, now. It is by far the best amp I've ever plugged into. I let a friend of mine borrow it a couple nights ago for a gig he had. He said that people were coming up to him raving about his tone. I haven't used mine out yet, but when we pull out on the 26th this amp will definitely be with me. This is one terrific amplifier. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get the best tone possible out of a steel guitar. I'm sure it would be a great guitar amp, too. Possibly a great fiddle amp. All I know is my guitar never sounded as good as it does now.

Dan - I played the Amp just before I left! In a word....AMAZING! Seriously, I was hearing things come out of my guitar that I've never heard before. I know that sounds strange to say but seriously it was such an eye opening experience that is so rare for a steel guitar player. Most of the time, something new just makes a subtle difference. In this case thought it is a significant difference in the overall tone and character response of what is being project from the guitar. WOW!!!

I have never heard my guitar the way I do now! This amp is the greatest addition to my setup since.....well, ever! Playing my steel is not a chore anymore but a real pleasure. I actually enjoy rehearsing and studying my instrument again! And because I hear the complete character of my instrument I am discovering things ever time I sit down to my guitar. More to come....

The low end warmth and clarity is great. I'm not hearing that honky mid that so many amps have. This may be something I'm gonna have to look in to.

Is this the same Vintage Vibe that makes pickups on Maui? I recently special-ordered a non-radiused Strat-style blade pickup for my Studio Deluxe. It sounds outstanding.

These are Tube Amps 100 watts. They are made in Martin Tn. by Paico Sound. They come in combo or split head. Great sounding amps,

Dan

Dick Wood - do you have one?

I had a similar concern about the honking mid-range too the very first time I sat down to my guitar with it. HOWEVER - the reason for that is simple. When you start hearing those low tones from this baby you can't help but just go WOW! I promise you the separation and low tones is incomparable to anything else in my opinion. I have NEVER heard my guitar like this before. It's literally transforming my playing. NOW THAT SAID ---- the mid and highs are absolute. It is more than enough to make your ears ring!

As for hearing these.....YES, I will be doing some videos with it but obviously a recording alone is not the best way to demo an amp. That's something you must hear in person. Likely, I will be doing some shows and clinics in the future where I will have my Vintage Vibe on display.

If anyone is seriously interested I welcome you to come to Nashville and try mine. I would just need you to write me at zaneking@me.com and setup an appointment.

Zane

Zane, No, but I wish I did. Even through my cheap computer speakers,I could hear something that I haven't heard in other amps. I just don't think I could get it past the appropriations dept...LOL

I'd like to hear a shootout between it, the Milkman and the LW. I know Tim's amp gave me the MeWants.
And I like how there are folks making multiple alternatives for the steel market.

I agree with you, Chris. It doesn't sound like another amp trying to make improvements on the old Bassman or Vibrolux sound, it sounds like its own thing. It's all there. I like that the combo uses a 12" speaker. Sweet amp.

Did Cowboy say the amp had a single 12 inch speaker?

If you get it with a speaker from them, according to their website single 12 is the only option. No 15, no 2/12

They make it in separate boxes, too. But if you want head/cab, they only make cabs in 12s.

I have a SICA 15 in a Tommy Huff cab, if someone wants to have me run a Zum through it, just send it to me. I'll give it a shootout between it, the Green Twin and a Session 500.

The amp sounds great on the video. I have a question; I saw no microphone in front of the amp, and there was quite a difference in the tone and level of the amp compared to Eddie Longs speaking voice. So, I am assuming that Eddie's voice was recorded by the microphone on the video camera and the amp sound was recorded by what? Was it a direct line out from the amp and then mixed into the video? My impression is that the amp sound was recorded to sound as good as possible, Eddie's voice did not get the same treatment, can you explain the difference?

I don't know what they used to record the sound on the video, Bill, but based from my experiments I think they set the video/mic across the room and had that amp LOUD. What your hearing and seeing is Cowboy Long speaking at a relatively normal volume projecting across the room, but that amp is probably running pretty healthy and hitting the mic pretty good. That was my take on it, at least.
