From a post on FB by Bob Hempker, Weldon passed away about 3 this afternoon. My deepest condolences to the family, plus all the dear friends and fans. It's so sad. Weldon was a hero for many a steel player, me included.

This is a very sad day for me. Weldon and Hal are the men that gave me the encouragem to become a steel player. So many Friday and Saturday nights Weldon would drive me home from the Opry long before I was old enough to drive. He was/is family.

Rest his soul. Weldon was a most gracious and loyal person. His loyalty to Ron Lashley and the Emmons brand is unmatched. His session work through the years speaks for itself. A most inovative player with a beautiful touch and tone. One of my favorite people to have known in life. My thouhts are with his loving family.

I could not believe what I was reading. I loved Weldon Myricks style so much. I always thought he had the hottest licks on Whiskey River recorded by Johnny Bush. To me this is a huge loss to all steel players. Rest in peace Weldon and thanks for all the great music you left us.
