Thanks Richard. That was a quick reply.Very technical but would I be correct saying the Lil'Izzy buffer creates an active EQ. _________________ Carter Universal,Quilter Steelaire combo,

Hi Warren, Good to see you on the forum.
While Li'l Izzy is an active device, it is simply a buffer that protects the guitar's natural overtones and allows them to be heard, perhaps for the first time in some cases.
Li'l Izzy provides no gain or loss and no EQ circuitry of any kind. The frequency response is flat to well above the audible spectrum.
Passive usually refers to a simple network of components that require no voltage to operate. Other than a step-up transformer, passive circuits can never provide gain. A passive tone circuit can cut lows, mids or highs, but never boost any part of a signal. One example of a passive circuit would be a pot and capacitor used as a guitar's "tone control". All these components can do is muffle the guitar's highs.

The only time I am conscious of the Li'l Izzy is when it isn't there. _________________ You can observe a lot just by looking |
