Can anyone advise as to the chance that I could send my DD-2 in to Boss and have it repaired or do they treat it like a disposable unit? If feasible where should it be sent. I seem to recall sending a DD-3 in somewhere and receiving it back with a note that it would be too costly to repair. Has anyone had any luck with getting repairs on Boss equipment?

Jerry, I recently sent an old Boss CE-2 chorus pedal back to California to their national headquarters for repair. It was one of the earlier made in Japan models and seems to have a pretty good resale value, so I figured it was worth it. They called me with an estimate which wasn't unreasonable, so I told them to go ahead and fix it; gave them CC information on the phone and I had it back in about 10-12 days from the time I said yes. I had also sent my vintage DC power supply with the unit and they did not return it. When I questioned why, I was advised that it was "fried". They didn't mention that when they called with the estimate initially, so I felt I was going to be out the cost of a replacement power supply. They told me not to worry, they were going to send me a new one free and that they should have told me it was fried when they called. All in all, I would say that they were fair with me and I would recommend to send your unit to them for repairs, but don't expect speedy turnaround or quite as reasonable as Peavey's service department pricing; but not bad. Hope this helps a bit with your decision. Good luck, Roger Smile

Jerry...The main concern that I would have is the components being used to repair the pedal. The earlier units manufactured in Japan seem to be bringing premium prices, most likely due to the fact that the electronics used were of a higher quality resulting in a better sounding unit. If the pedals are repaired utilizing modern parts, wouldn't the end result be basically a new pedal housed in a vintage case?

Pete, I don't know the cause. I don't believe we plugged the wrong adapter into it but can't be sure of that as I do carry a 9 volt AC Pod XT adapter in the pac-seat. I opened it up and immediately saw a blackened hot spot on the clear plastic sheet that goes between the bottom plate and the circuit board. It is in the extreme left rear corner looking at the pedal upside down. The very first trace in that corner is burned in two. I jumped across it and it still didn't work but had a uniform chirping noise like some kind of oscillation. In the attached photo the pedal is turned so the left rear corner is shown in the upper right corner.
I have done no soldering of a jumper, just jumped across with a razor blade. I'm am sure something is burned out causing the trace to burn.
Thanks,
Jerry
