How many of you pedalers play a Fulawka???
Ed builds a very attractive guitar.

I heard this set above and Rick sounded great. A very warm smooth sounding steel.
I tried on of Ed's other steels and it felt real nice for a Sho-Bud kind of guy.
Real good construction and hardware under the hood.
It was easy to see why Ricky got his.
And Ed also makes some serious barbacue sp[ices for his friends too. |

He sure builds a beautiful guitar!!! Ed is going to send me some pictures and prices. What, would you estimate the delay would be from ordering a guitar and finally receiving it? I'm kind of long in the tooth already and I want to be able to play it for a little while anyway! I have a question, do the tuning pegs stick up rather high or is it just my imagination?

So far I´ve only had a chance to sit down at a Fulawka once, in St.Louis, and it had by far the most precise feel I can think of. It´s obvious that Ed is an old school craftsman and pays great attention to every detail. Everything is customized, he will ask where exactly you want the knee levers and all so it´s like custom tailored. And he´s such a wonderful person, too, gave me a lot of great advice. As for the sound, well to really know what I personally would sound like on it in the end I´d have to use one of my preferred amps, which wasn´t there, but then I heard Ricky on his Fulawka and Fender amp and he sure has the sound that gets me going. I dig the looks too since it kind of follows the ShoBud tradition. If I were in the position to buy a new guitar, it definitely would have to be a Fulawka.

You would sound incredible NO matter what you played. This include a single string strung across a 2 X 4. I am exceedingly impressed with your inate talents.

David; that is actually a set played at the Broken Spoke in Austin,Tx; with Billy Dee and Redd Volkaert and if you think this guitar sounded good in St. Louis with me playing through a LTD and Webb...>you outta hear it through me Fender Rig...ha.

Erv.....yes your eyes are playin' tricks on you with the Tuning keys(picture)...they are regular height. And Erv the best way to find out a time frame from Ed is to Email or Call better yet....>the most wonderful Man you'll ever speak with.

Ricky,
I sent Ed an e-mail and already heard back from him this weekend. He is going to be putting some info. in the mail for me. Did you have to pay around $5,000 for that beautiful instrument? I sold a guitar once for $5,000 but I had to take two $2,500 cats in trade!!!

It's the kind of steel that if you don't really have time to play it , it's so nice to look at, and you can hear it just by looking at it !!....GORGEOUS steel, with tone !!

I own 2 Fulawka's and have to say I am pleased with both of them. I also do Ed's web site which you can visit at the following address and see some pics of various Fulawka steels and also prices.

Erv: Should have added I am left-handed and both my steels are built left handed. Ed also made me a "left footed" volume pedal, that is the cables come out the left side as opposed to the right.

I'm not much of a player nor do I own a Fulawka. I met Ed at the Dallas show and his guitars are beautiful, solid, and everything about them seems extremely precise, like the man.
In speaking with Ed, who is quite enthusiastic, it's apparent that this is a man who cannot do enough for you.
I was humbled by his selfless personality. |

The prices are in US$, which should not be surprising given what goes into these steels. Ed goes to great lengths (and travels literally hundreds of miles) to hand pick the finest wood money can buy. Just look at Ricky's Fulawka -- that's no ordinary birdseye. Then there's the genius aspects of his design, like that crossover system he developed for the right knee levers and the cam system for the changer. He manufactures every part, including the pickups. All in all, you get more than your money's worth, in my opinion.
And, by the way, Ed doesn't require a deposit! He knows he can sell any steel he makes in about five minutes, so he doesn't need a deposit.
But, you can expect to wait at least a year. And you have to wonder how many more years Ed will be building these things.
