Just curious, are the lift kits as good as having standard length legs on steels?

I had a 1" lift kit on my Carter for a few years. No problems at all. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . I've used as much as a 2" lift, with no problems, except the guitar was a little top-heavy. I wouldn't want to go higher, though. |

I have 2 guitars with rods sized 1" over standard and 2 with lift kits. No difference that I can perceive. You may need to cut some thread off of your rods to get the right pedal height. _________________ Justice Pro Lite (4-5), Justice D-10 (8-5)x2 , Quilter Steelaire, Hilton Pedal, BJ's bar. |

What I did was, go to the hardware store and buy shorter aluminum spacers and the set screw to go in it and the ball joint socket. I needed a 1/2" one for a pedal that I couldn't get high enough with the 1" lift kit. Actually, you can get all the parts you need for all you pedals at a good hardware store like Ace, Home Depot and I would think Lowes. The only problem will be that you have to get something to put between the legs clutch and the pedal bar. In the kit I bought, they had 2 pieces of aluminum tubing cut to 1". I guess you could replace the dowels that are usually inside the front legs. You just need to prevent the front legs from slipping down. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Appreciate the help guys. I'm just gonna order the 1" lift kit from Jerry Roller. He has the whole kit for a good price.
