I just wanted to share my thoughts on Livesteel Strings with everybody which, I realize my opinion and 2 bucks will get you a cup of coffee. But at the same time, Being a life long steel guitar player and still a working full time musician who has used every string out there I think I have a pretty good handle on this subject.
I've been using Livesteel Strings since Sid came out with them in 2012 and I figured now would be a good time to tell you my take on them.
After two years I'm still in awe of the service I get from Livesteel Strings. Not only the tremendous tone they provide, but also the intonation is spot on up the neck from set to set. And, the longest life of any string I've ever used. No breakage either. I think Livesteel Strings are the best thing to come along for steel guitar in my lifetime.
Before anybody says, " I get them for free because I'm a Nashville player ". Nothing could be further from the truth. I buy mine just like anybody else. And I feel it's the best ongoing investment I make for my sound.
If you haven't tried Livesteel's yet you owe it to yourself to give them a try. Order online or give them a call and talk to Jordan.

I ordered a set last Tuesday or Wednesday, and they beat me home (I get home Saturday morning).
The nickel set sounds just fine on my dobro.

So was it the strings or the player Mike on the work you did for our friend Sarah Barker? I was down to Tulsa and laid some pedal steel on Pony & accordion on Los Gatos, deporte'

Mike what is the composite of the strings you like the best, Nickel, Stainless, or just whatever it might me. I am thinking of trying another brand and appreciate your input.

I use stainless. Some guys like nickel best some the cryo. My advice would be try them all and decide for yourself.

Yes I did play on a project cut here and did some overdubs on stuff cut in Tulsa. Gonna do some more for her in a couple weeks.

| I've been using live strings for almost a year now and not one string breakage yet. and I play/practice every day. I decided on my last change to see how long these strings will go. So far, two and half months later they still sound great! I'm beginning to think that these strings are unbreakable. |

Me too, Jason - just bought two sets of stainless and fitted them yesterday after the Barnham Steelies get-together. Superb tone, I thought SIT were good, they had great tone after a long time on the guitar and no breakages, so Live Steel has a tough act to follow, but the omens are good already!

I bought U12 set's of Nickel and Stainless last November to see which I liked best.
I put the Nickel on first and they're still going strong, so haven't tried the Stainless yet.
I did break a 3rd string last week, broke at the changer end, so just put on a spare as the others still sound good and keep decent tune.
I'm looking forward to trying the Stainless to see what the difference is, damn the longevity of these strings 
But I noticed the difference straight away from other brands I've used before when I put the Nickel set on, the strings seemed "settled" right away. Didn't seem to have the initial over brightness dying down over the first week of playing. The tone has stayed pretty much the same from day 1 until now.
I have cleaned the strings a couple of times when the tone has started to lose it's edge and this seems to work well for quite some time before I need to do it again.
I'm not gigging but I play almost every night for at least 2 hours, so they're getting plenty of use.

+1 for the stainless. I tried the nickel when I had my stage one and didn't like them as well.

Mike, I'm more known as a lead guitar player and decided to try a set of singles on my lead outfit. I had been using nothing but D'Addarios for the last 25 years! I was pleasantly blown away with the tone, life, and brilliance of the LSS. In fact, I called Sid and bugged the bejesus out of him until he started to offer a 6 string set for electric guitar. They are incredible in every aspect. Of course, we all know about the incredible service, well the tone and life matches it.

I recently tried a couple of custom sets for my C6 6 string lap steels...nice strings with a very good bright sound and the shipping / service speed was outstanding.

I switched to Sid's strings when Jagwires became impossible to get. I had a bad attitude about having to switch, but I'm glad I did. Since I don't have to do any C6th work in the main band I am in, I have not changed my C6 strings in a while. The strings toward the changer are pure black from my arm resting on them. But they still sound good enough to pull off a gig. That tells me a lot about the quality and value these strings offer. You're going to have to pay me to switch, and it won't be cheap.
