When playing steel guitar, do you point your right foot straight forward, or do you angle it to the right a bit?
If you do angle your foot, do you also angle your volume pedal? |

Lee, I have a procedure, actually.
First, I put my right foot in, then take my right foot out. Then I put my right foot in and I shake it... well, anyway it's complicated but that's what it's all about. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

Herb...They tried to bury that guy but they could not get it done... they couldn't get the coffin closed, he kept putting his right foot in and his left foot out! _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

My right heel angles in a little and it's more comfortable for me that way. I made a mount for my pedal bar to angle my volumn pedal in at the heel. I think ergonomics when playing is not stressed enough. You have to do what it takes to be comfortable. |

I have mine at a slight angle pointing to the front right corner of the guitar a little. I also don't put my volume pedal up by the pedal bar. It's about 1/2 way between the front and back of the guitar. This way my leg is straight up and down and not at an angle which cause fatigue after a while. I also have better volume pedal control, and right knee lever(s) control. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . my pedal angles the toe toward the right front corner of the steel. i do have a bracket that fits over the pedal bar. for me it's good to have it secured as my foot comes on and off it regularly.
i notice that my right foot does not necessarily line up squarely on the vp, though. it kind of slides around however it wants to get comfortable. i think it's totally a 'whatever feels good' issue. |

I also found that not having the VP right against the pedal bar decreases fatigue(having leg calf straight up and down)as well as offers better control. Also work at a slight angle toward the right. I thought it was just because of the particular volume pedal I use, but who knows? we find what works best for our body and playing style if we pay attention. |

Herb, we'll make you an honorary Brit for that one...
I too angle my foot outward a little, and made a bracket to ensure that alignment for the volume pedal. _________________ Williams 700 series keyless U12,
