Can someone point me to Lloyd Green non-pedal steel recordings? The only thing I could come up with is this 2010 Bob Hoffnar thread , and the YouTube video has since been removed. |

The first of these two songs is on a non-pedal neck (unless I am simply mistaken).

Not your question, I don't think, but he played a bunch of dobro with Nanci Griffith. |

That was great Jon...a Lloyd Classic clip... It was more about the rhythm, style, and groove back then, today it's all about the mechanics of a steel it seems. Lloyd could really write some melodies on that thing, and that kind of playing is not easy to write in colourful fashion, it's a total artistry! _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

A little off-topic, but does anyone know what brand of acoustic guitar Faron Young is playing in that clip? _________________ Some songs I've written |

Thanks, Jon.
The Bob Hoffnar link ends up with a great discussion of Faron's Gay guitar. |

Frank--I remember that link in Bob's thread and if I recall correctly, it was actually a different song than my link, wasn't it? |

He's playing a solo on John Stewart's "Never Going Back". Maybe it is played on a pedal guitar but I hear no pedals being pushed. It's on youtube, but not available over here so I can't put up a link. Maybe someone does it for me? _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |

Great tune, Joachim. Stewart calls out the musicians at the end. |

The guitar that Faron Young is playing in Jons Youtube video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2sZSzQzMMA
is a "Gay" guitar
Made in Edmonton Alberta Canada in the late '50's by
French luthier Frank Gay (now deceased)
He made guitars for many Opry stars back then,
Web Pierce, Faron, Carl Smith . . .

Jack on the live version of ' never going back' , Stewart mentions on steel guitar 'Dangerous Dan Dugmore'. I don't have the studio version. Also Jim Gordon plays drums on the live recording. _________________ Regards, Craig

From "Gentleman Lloyd Green" to "Dangerous Dan Dugmore," Mr. Stewart certainly know how to pick his steel players. |
