Today we live in an environment where suppliers can be proud of their customer service and go out of their way to be of help.
PG MUSIC is NOT one of those.
As most folks know, I'm legally blind but I try not to be a bitching person because I have a handicap.
Contrary to PG Music's statement that most computer suppliers are cognizant of BIAB and it's installation, I find that most have never heard of the program. When I received my last computer five years ago, my supplier spent three hours on the phone with PG Music to get my program installed.
Time for a new computer again, and to head off a similar problem, I asked PG Music if they knew of our could locate somebody in my area who would be of help.
All they did without any investigation was give me a link to an unfamiliar forum which is like putting a blind guy in a new room and saying, "okay find your way around". I told the sales rep that I was going to "will my eyes to her"!!!!!!!

I like the pre loaded small hard drives and have had pretty good luck with PG help.
I hope they have not changed it. _________________ MSA 12 String E9th/B6th Universal.

Hi Ken and thanks for the note. No, they haven't changed that. It's just that I have BB from 2001 with updates since then and tons of files. I may be making a mountain out of a mole hill. It's just that five years ago when I got this computer, it was a hassle, but maybe the hard drive, which I have yet uninstalled, will save a lot of problems.
Have a great day.

I had to invest in a larger computer a couple of years ago and the computer guy just transfered the files (including BIAB) off my old computer onto my new one, no big deal. |

There are a number of programs out there that can "clone" your hard drive and copy everything to your new hard drive. Symantec's "Ghost" has been used for a number of years for this purpose (although I think they may be discontinuing that for a new product). I have used "True Image" from Acronis for a number of years with great success.
One thing I'm not sure of from reading the post here is if you're using Win XP as your operating system, I would hope not. Microsoft will drop all support from XP in April 2014, which means no updates, patches or any other fixes for new vulnerabilities that might pop up.
I would suggest either Win 7 or Win 8.1 for any new system. That being said I would be hesitant to say that a 2001 version (if I'm understanding you correctly) would work correctly or not. I would think you could transfer your data files for use with a current version of BIAB, then again that just my thoughts. YMMV. |

I could be wrong but I seem to remember reading that despite what Microsoft is saying they will not drop XP support because they have a lot of corp accounts still on XP and the companies would get pissed off. |

Thanks Bill, Dickie and Erv. Yes, I maybe making a mountain out of a molehill. One thing about all the BB files, the are all on the C drive except for the 2013 package which I have not installed on this unit, but will install on the new one. I'll be using Windows 7 replacing my good ole XP.

George I understand you have a specific issue you are dealing with (maybe). But I just finished a two hour live chat with PG Music and I am more that happy with those guys, and lady. My issue was with rendering and they walked me through a windows vista issue as well as my 2009.5 version. I am more than happy. Just sayin... |

BIAB render me some of my money back that I've spent on upgrades!

Easy solution for your computer guy
1) copy C:\BB to C: on the new computer
2) install the 2013 package on the new computer. Installing the 2013 package will get all the paths correct and the necessary fonts in the right place. _________________ Justice The Judge SD-10, 2007

I had a question on accessing a function in the new 2014 version. I contacted BIAB and their support had me going through about 4 different menus to get the function. A forum member showed me how to get it with one click. |
